Chinese giant DJI is once again shaking up the consumer drone market with the launch of the Flip. This new drone is distinguished by its foldable carbon fiber propeller guards. A world first.
This technical feat allows the drone to maintain a featherweight of less than 249 grams while offering maximum safety. The protective structure weighs only one sixtieth of the weight of conventional polycarbonate protections, without compromising on strength.
The automatic braking system, coupled with 3D infrared detection, provides additional safety even when flying at night. This “safety first” approach opens the door to piloting for newbies who were previously hesitant to get started, fearing damaging their investment or injuring someone.
If you want some AI, here it is
Beneath its compact appearance, the Flip features cutting-edge technologies. Its 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor captures 48 MP photos with an f/1.7 aperture and 2.4 μm 4-in-1 pixels. 4K/60fps videos in HDR and slow motion mode in 4K/100fps deliver exceptional picture quality for content creators.
Artificial intelligence plays a central role in the user experience with six automated shooting modes: Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix and Boomerang. The FocusTrack system, with its ActiveTrack 4.0, provides surgically precise subject tracking, while MasterShots allows you to create automated cinematic sequences.
DJI announces autonomy of 31 minutes as well as video transmission up to 13 km in 1080p/60fps. Fast charging via parallel station and data transfers at 30 MB/s reduce downtime.
Priced from 639 euros with RC-2 radio control, the Flip also offers remarkable value for money. A new reference? Without a doubt.
The Flip thus completes an already very complete range of drones. In addition to its models for professionals, DJI is developing more and more consumer references. The Neo, launched at the end of 2024, targeted content creators who enjoy social networks.
