Do you prefer to call an AI for your business or recruit a graduate game? This is the question posed by the International Business School Hult as part of a study. No less than 1,600 employers participated in this survey which reveals a fairly surprising result.
Indeed, 37 % of employers said they would prefer to use artificial intelligence rather than a young graduate of the Z generation (people born between 1997 and 2012). In all, 89 % claim to avoid hiring young graduates.
“They are cheaper”
Why this massive rejection of young workers? Among the reasons mentioned by these leaders, 60 % believe that the teaching received is too theoretical and that they do not have real world experience. Likewise, 55 % deplore that they do not collaborate well in a team.
Commenting on these figures with NewsweekKevin Thompson, financial expert and founder and CEO of 9i capital Group, analysis: “Training an AI to perform tasks is much easier and more profitable than forming a human while paying it on the job. The AI performs the tasks exactly as programmed, for a fraction of the cost. Many employers see the interest of taking advantage of AI for the management of basic tasks, especially in support roles and beginners’ positions ”.
Also interviewed by the American media, the human resources consultant Bryan Driscoll, did not go there by four paths:
Of course, employers prefer to use AI rather than humans: it is cheaper, this does not require fundamental health or human rights care and they do not have paid leave. It is not a generation Z that lacks skills, but employers who try to dodge their responsibilities.
To complete this study, we can refer to a survey carried out in 2024 by the cybersecurity company Kaspersky. 1000 French people aged 18 to 40 therefore responded to this survey. It only emerges that the temptation of the AI does not affect only the bosses, since 35 % of respondents planned to see the decision -making entrusted to a machine rather than a human being.
