LG’s transparent TV

@pressecitronIt’s LG’s new transparent TV and it’s finally becoming a reality! 📺 CES2025 LG TV♬ original sound – Lemon squeezer – Lemon squeezer

Transparent televisions made their show in Las Vegas. But LG remains the brand that has made the most progress on this several-year-old project. For the first time, the Korean announces the availability of its first transparent television. Although no specific date has been communicated, LG confirms a release this year.

The operation of the transparent television is based on the use of an external box that is placed or stored in a piece of furniture. The transmission of image and sound on the screen takes place using wireless technology.

The company has perfected its industrialization process in order to reduce the loss rate. Although the brand can market its television, this rate remains high. Also, treat yourself to this device of the future costs a whopping $60,000 (gulps!).

And the image quality in all this? While past concepts had worried us somewhat, this first marketable TV impresses. Transparency degrades image quality much less. We even venture to say that it is excellent. For a movie night, a mechanism deploys a black canvas on the back of the panel. Bluffing!

Lenovo’s drop-down screen PC

@pressecitronWe knew about folding smartphones, now here are drop-down PCs! 💻 CES 2025 Lenovo PC♬ original sound – Lemon squeezer – Lemon squeezer

Like the transparent television, the PC with a rollable screen has come into its own. And like the transparent television, it will be marketed for the first time this year.

At the origin of this laptop PC like no other, the Chinese Lenovo. After years of work, the world leader in PC has finally succeeded in optimizing its production lines to offer a machine with a roll-up screen to the general public.

At first glance, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 looks like a classic laptop. 14-inch screen, latest generation Intel chips, elegant design: nothing suggests that it camouflages one of the most innovative screen technologies of the moment.

With a simple press of a button on the keyboard, the user can scroll the screen vertically. It then reaches a diagonal of 16.7”, an increase of 50%. Lenovo assures that the hinge can support at least 30,000 open/close cycles while the flexible screen can endure 20,000 cycles.

“But what use can that possibly be? » some will say. Excellent question. With this PC, Lenovo adapts to new modes of content consumption. Videos are mainly viewed in vertical format, social networks are among the most important uses (some generations even use them as their main source of information). Reading articles is also much more comfortable on such a machine. Finally, the use of software/applications with split screens offer more flexibility in terms of productivity.

Obviously, such technology comes at a high price. Lenovo announced a price of $3,499 in the United States. It will therefore be necessary to count on a price of around 4,000 euros in France.

Xgimi Ascend: a cinema in your living room

@pressecitronHave you always dreamed of having a crazy cinema at home? CES2025 XGIMI Ascend♬ original sound – Lemon squeezer – Lemon squeezer

Video projector specialist Xgimi caused a sensation at CES 2025 with the Ascend. This unusual soundbar prototype impressed the international press.

With a length of 3 meters, it has 8 speakers (including 2 subwoofers) certified by Harman Kardon (partner of Xgimi for several years) and Dolby Atmos (for 360° sound).

The “wow” effect of Ascend is hidden within it. Indeed, a mechanism allows you to deploy a 100-inch projection screen. A cinema in your living room, provided, of course, that you combine it with a short-throw video projector (randomly the Aura 2 from Xgimi).

The web can also adapt to the content broadcast. It stops unfolding halfway to display the interface of a music streaming application. Only a quarter is displayed if you choose to broadcast a fireplace fire.

The Ascend is still at the prototype stage but Xgimi plans to market it by the end of the year. Its price (not yet completely fixed) should be around $3,000to which must be added the price of a video projector. An Aura 2 is around $3,000. So a complete setup would cost $6,000.

The Aptera solar electric car

@pressecitronAn electric car that recharges itself? 😱 CES2025 electric car♬ original sound – Lemon squeezer – Lemon squeezer

Another project several years old which will finally find itself in the hands of consumers. The Aptera electric car, presented every year at CES since the 2019 edition, will finally come to life. This electric vehicle is the first to run on solar energy thanks to panels installed directly on the bodywork.

On the other hand, the company is revising its claims downward. Exit the more than 1,000 kilometers of autonomy, the Aptera will be able to travel approximately 650 kilometers on a single charge, at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Above all, she will be able to recover approximately 65 kilometers per day while riding. Condition sine qua non to take full advantage of this extraordinary vehicle: live in a very sunny region.

Although this project has received much criticism over the years, it will become a reality within a few months. The company announced for the first time this year that the Aptera would enter production in 2025 for marketing in 2026, in California first. It remains to be seen whether this slightly crazy vehicle will survive in an industry in the midst of a storm.

Aurzen Zip: the video projector that folds in three

@pressecitronWe discovered the first folding projector in the world! 📽️ CES2025 portable projector♬ original sound – Lemon squeezer – Lemon squeezer

CES is also (especially?) an opportunity to discover surprising gadgets. The Aurzen Zip alone embodies THE signature product of a CES. This projector is the first in the world to be able to fold into three to become a pocket-sized device. Square in shape, it can unfold to broadcast content with 720p definition on a diagonal of up to 55 inches. Brightness tops out at 100 lumens.

To distribute the content, users can choose to choose a screen mirroring from a smartphone or tablet or for a key (additional charge) allowing you to connect a console, computer or any other broadcast device via an HDMI cable.

The Aurzen Flip is available for $299 in crowdfunding. It will then be marketed at $399. The additional key is priced at $119.

So, which innovation appeals to you the most?
