On the video game market, the name of some publishers irreparably evoke many licenses (and many memories) to players around the world. This is the case of Konami (Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania …), Capcom (Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mega Man …), or Activision, behind Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk … and which was bought by Microsoft at the end of 2023 for a little more than 75 billion dollars. Most recently, this same activation has put online advertisements to say the least … amazing.
False advertisements for false games Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and Crash Bandicoot?
Indeed, advertisements for guitar hero mobile games, Call of Duty: Zombie Defender or Crash Bandicoot Brawl have recently been broadcast on the company’s social networks, including Facebook and Instagram, inviting users to download them from their smartphone. Small concern, however, the games in question … do not exist.
However, at first glance, everything seems could not be more authentic. An advertisement that emanates from the publisher’s official account, realistic visuals, a link to a download page … However, in addition to not existing, the latter all have other common points, namely visuals developed entirely by AI (the last call of duty had already benefited from “benefits”From AI), rather detailed descriptions, and advertisements that refer users to application stores… fictitious.

Thus, for users who took their courage in both hands, and who clicked on the “Download” button, they saw the following message appear: “Thank you for your interest! It is not a real game, but it could become one day! We would be delighted that you respond to this little investigation, which could help us determine the potential future of this game. Your opinion really interests us!»
For the American giant, it is therefore a question of coming to probe the players about various projects, nonexistent, concerning very real licenses, through a stratagem at least questionable. Visuals, like other promotional images, have all been generated by an artificial intelligence with the objective “bait”The player, and offer him to respond to a survey concerning the license in question.
In the meantime, Activision has recently formalized the release of a new compilation dedicated to the Tony Hawk license, with the upcoming remaster of opus 3 and 4, scheduled for July 11. A compilation that will even have the honors of a collector’s version, which includes a Birdhouse skateboard board in limited edition, actual size, dedicated by Tony Hawk.
