Lithuania is once again asserting itself as a major technological innovation hub with the emergence of Nexos.ai, a startup which wishes to coordinate the uses of different artificial intelligences in business. Founded by Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas, the creators of the unicorn Nord Security (also at the origin of the famous VPN NordVPN), Nexos.ai has just emerged from the shadows with a fundraising of 8 million dollars.
Due to the remarkable career of the founders, Nexos.ai has attracted renowned investors, led by Index Ventures, which is making its first investment in Lithuania. On LinkedIn, Tomas Okmanas specifies that it only took him 48 hours to complete the financing round following strong enthusiasm from investors. Other investors include Creandum, Dig Ventures, as well as leading business angels such as the CEOs of Datadog, Klarna, Supercell and Wix.
Structuring the use of AI
This new company is part of the lineage of Lithuanian success stories, recalling the success of Vinted, another unicorn in the country, and confirming Lithuania’s position as a fertile ground for technological innovation. Nexos.ai positions itself in a crucial niche: help companies better coordinate the use of large language models (LLM).
Nexos.ai addresses a growing need for businesses looking to deploy AI at scale. Tom Okmanas explains in the press release that moving AI drivers to production poses many challenges, particularly in terms of availability, security and cost management. Nexos.ai’s platform aims to bridge this gap by providing access to over 200 AI models through a simple API and allowing businesses to easily switch between different providers in the event of outages or excessive costs.
The company also emphasizes security and compliance, which is a crucial issue for many organizations hesitant to adopt AI due to data protection risks. In its offer which will be officially available from March, Nexos.ai will also offer solutions to prevent the transmission of private data to LLM providers and to effectively manage employee access.
This new entrepreneurial adventure by Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas confirms the dynamism of the European AI ecosystem. After bootstrapping Nord Security, whose valuation exceeds $3 billion thanks to its VPN, the founders seem to have found a new vein to go even further. To be continued.
