By searching in a beta version of the Google Messages application, which manages SMS and RCS texts on Android, our colleagues from Android Authority discovered a change on which Google would work for this app. And if this change is deployed, it could become more complicated to ignore the messages you receive. According to this discovery of Android Authority, Google is preparing a new interface to display the details of a text. On Google Messages, you can see these details by selecting a text (a long support on the message), then by pressing “Display the details”.
Currently, when you do this, Google Messages displays a basic interface, with some information, such as the date of dispatch and the date of receipt of the message. But the new interface developed by Google would be more intuitive, but also more detailed. More precisely, This new interface would display the text on the upper part of the screen, and the details on the lower part. And according to the screenshots shared by Android Authority, in group discussions, the new interface would even allow to know which participants have really read the message.
Otherwise, the information is also more readable, since the new interface displays the names of the contacts, as well as the profile images. And we can even press these contacts to call, send a text, etc.
A feature that has not yet been announced
The good news (or not) is that when this article is written, this new interface is not yet deployed. Android Authority indicates that it was necessary to search in a BETA version of Google Messages, then activate the new interface which was hidden in this BETA version. So, for the moment, while waiting for an ad from Google, caution remains in order. Indeed, it is always possible that after the beta tests, Google abandons this functionality.
In any case, this discovery shows that Google is continuously looking for new ways to improve its application for texts. Since 2024, Google Messages has become more useful, since, thanks to the RCS format, it is possible to communicate between Google messages and the iPhone, without going through SMS or by third -party messaging applications like Whatsapp.
- Google would prepare an update of the App Messages on Android, with a new interface to see the details of a text
- For group messages, it would even be possible to see who has read and who has not read text, thanks to this new interface
- But for the moment, this novelty is not deployed on the stable version of Google Messages
