Swann, Nora, Autumn and Kat, four teenage girls spend a very pleasant summer holiday in the small town of Velvet Cove in 1995. Young girls get to know each other and chain moments of complicity, ride their own rock group and Walking in the surrounding woods … everything happens for the best until a tragic event pushes them to oath to never meet again.
In 2022, 27 years later, Swan was back under the insistence of Autumn. The latter has indeed received a mysterious package which reminds them of painful memories. Young women find themselves in a warm pub to explore these little details and try to find their memory.
The story skillfully alternates between these two eras, each time line revealing a piece of the puzzle. The writing is neat and manages to capture the intensity of emotions. We end up getting attached to these heroines and to identify with them.
A gameplay focused on contemplation and exploration
One of the very good ideas of Lost records Based on the use of a camcorder, a real signature of the game. By playing Swann in 1995, you film key moments from the holidays. These sequences assemble to form a small film narrated by the interested party herself, adding an introspective and emotional dimension to experience.
As always with Don’t Nod, there is also a lot of reading and small details and objects that plunge us into the heart of the 90s. It is precisely one of the wishes of the studio and, from this point of view, the ‘Objective is perfectly reached. References to pop culture (such as tamagotchis or video clubs) add a familiar touch that will speak to players who grew up during this time.
Social interactions are also at the heart of the challenges: your choices of dialogue and actions influence your relationships with other characters. However, it remains difficult to know if these decisions will have a significant impact on global history.

Velvet Cove is a place where beauty rubs shoulders with the strange. This small fictitious town of Michigan and the surrounding landscapes are sublimated by an artistic direction with small onions and an inspired soundtrack that fits perfectly with the atmosphere.
A successful first part
Although Lost records Put a little time to start, it lays very solid bases for the future. The characters are endearing, their personalities well defined, and the mystery that surrounds their past intrigues enough to make you want to discover what this second episode reserves, especially since we are left on a clearly unbearable suspense.
