The Paris Economic Activities Tribunal is due to render an important decision on February 28. He will indeed decide the conflict between the Professional Football League (LFP) and Dazn. Seized by the League, French justice must oblige, or not, the British streaming platform to settle the 35 million euros placed under receivers to protest, according to him, against non-compliance with the contract by the LFP.
Ligue 1 back on Canal+?
While a divorce could intervene between the two parties from December 1, 2025, French football panic and we already mention the possible bankruptcy of certain clubs in need of this financial windfall. The eyes therefore turn to the historic Canal+ actor to find out whether or not to broadcast Ligue 1.
At first, the French group said that no discussion was envisaged in order to replace Dazn. After The teamthe owner, Vincent Bolloré, would not be closed to the thing, but he would have set several conditions.
In particular, a long -term contract would be required and an investment that would be close to the sum disbursement by Amazon, or 259 million euros per year. If such a deal were to emerge, it would probably not be at the level of the expectations of French football leaders, who initially dreamed of one billion euros per season.
The cloth burns between the LFP and Dazn
As a reminder, the confrontation between the LFP and Dazn therefore took a judicial turning point and Brice Daumin, the CEO of Dazn France, had reacted to these last twists and turns explaining “Let you never solve anything before a court”. He added:
It is not because we do not have 1.5 million subscribers in December 2025 that we want to activate the clause denouncing our contract with the League. We have no intention of leaving. We are there for a long time, as in each country where we have acquired rights.
The service also deplores the insufficiency of the fight-antipiracting in France:
Arch, the audiovisual regulator, does not work on weekends. In Italy, we are able to block 18,000 links in two days. And Arch is 5,000 per year. In other words, Italy realizes in a weekend what the Arch takes three and a half years to do! It is not a criticism. They do not have enough means and this subject must be addressed. When you buy a saucepan, you don’t expect to have a colander.
