You may know the Chinese brand Niu, founded just over 10 years ago by elders from Xiaomi. The brand already offers a wide selection of electric scooters, but also scooters, without forgetting obviously the essential electric bikes. The brand is notably used by various vehicle sharing companies in the United States. Today, this specialist in electric two-wheelers is expanding its range with a new vehicle… on four wheels!
Niumm 500 attacking the electric microcar market
Indeed, the new Niumm 500 is intended to be an electric microcar, rolling in the footsteps of a certain Citroën Friend to name a few. The vehicle was formalized during the recent living room (from the two wheels) Motorrad de Dortmund (Germany), and for good reason, despite its four wheels, this new vehicle signed Niu is part of the L6E category, a light quadricycle which can be driven from the age of 14 with in particular the AM license or the BSR.

On the template side, this NiumM 500 wants to (very) slightly more imposing than the girlfriend of Citroën, with 2.5 meters in length here, and always the possibility of embarking a total of 2 passengers on board. On board, there is a leather steering wheel, without forgetting a large color screen for rolling data. The centralized locking is also of the party, without forgetting the presence of USB ports, electric windows, as well as a precious heating.
On the power side, there is a 5 kW electric motor here, capable of delivering a point power up to 10 kW. In accordance with the regulation of light quadricycles, the maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h.

To feed everything, Niu opted for removable batteries (2 x 2 kWh), allowing access to an autonomous (theoretical) of about 60 km. For the “big rollers“, You can choose a version with fixed batteries, with this time 7 kWh of total capacity, for a range slightly less than 120 km this time. The NiumM 500 is fitted with 12 ”tires, and obviously has a lighting system, with LED headlights here.
It remains to be seen when (and how) this NIUMM 500 will be marketed, knowing that the Chinese manufacturer has already mentioned a sale price which should turn closer to the € 8,000. The first deliveries could arrive by the end of 2025.
