Design and ergonomics: no major change

If there is one area where the Freebuds Pro 4 do not change too much, it is design and ergonomics. We do not complain, to tell the truth, as they are successful. The case and the headphones keep the same silhouette as the Proebuds Pro 3.

However, there are some subtle modifications, such as the appearance of a golden net on the case in order to assert the premium positioning. It is also found around the headphones, accompanied by fine vertical engravings symbolizing the elegance of the string instruments. We finally note the presence of the new “Huawei Music” logo, halfway between a floor key and the letter H.

The load is carried out through the case by USB-C or by induction (5 watts). Huawei announces up to 7 hours of maximum autonomy when the headphones are used without active noise reduction (5 hours with it). A complete and pleasant companion

The app Ai Lifeprecisely, is available on the Apple App Store, but not on the Google Play Store. We will have to download it from the Huawei App Gallery store or – more simply – by scanning a manual QR code. It gives access to many useful functions and warns you of the presence of updates. We cannot advise you too much to apply them these resolving a lot of annoying small bugs. It also makes it possible to manage the devices connected to the earphones, these can be Connected simultaneously to two musical sources.

It also gives access to Huawei Soundan equalizer whose predefined modes can be enriched with personal settings. Another important function is the test of tips. Huawei provides different sizes made of silicone, as well as a memory foam pair that we immediately adopted. You just have to indicate through the app the type of tips used to optimize noise cancellation.

We also appreciated the location of headphones by showing a sound. This allowed us to recover one that we had dropped inadvertently on a train.

Excellent audio quality, including telephone conversation

Very good, but quid The quality of the sound produced? She is simply excellent! Whether we listen to jazz, classical music, RNB or electro, the result is excellent. The treble is clear, the mediums distinct and the bass pleasant, although a hair too present by default. You can remedy it by playing a little with the equalizer of the Compagnon app.

In order to benefit from the best audio quality, it is essential to use a recent Huawei smartphone. With Mate X6, the latest version of the Codec without L2HC Loss Loss will be accessible to you. Its 2.3 Mbps flow leaves dreaming. A notch below, the Pura 70 models benefit from the previous version of the Codec. It provides maximum speed of 1.5 Mbps.

Unfortunately, Huawei smartphones have been losing speed in Europe since they can no longer use Google services following Yankee banishment. It will therefore be necessary to be satisfied with a flow of “only” 990 kbps provided by the LDAC codec, all the same Hi-Res certified. In this case, the stereophonic scene is a completely correct amplitude and we even manage to forgive the absence of its space, reserved for the L2HC codec.

Active noise cancellation makes an excellent job and barely alter the quality of the audio. Just we see a slight nut on high frequencies if it is active in a calm environment … which is not its primary vocation. Without reaching the excellence of a bose yet, the cancellation of noise of the pro 4 freebuds is completely satisfactory.

For once, the most spectacular is where we do not expect it. Or, in any case, not at this point! During a telephone conversation, your interlocutor does not perceive absolutely no ambient noise. But beware: when we say none, it’s not lightly!

Whether we are in the street, in the metro, on a train or even in a noisy bar, our correspondent has absolutely perceived nothing other than our voice. Even better: it remains natural and does not have the “robotic” rendering that we sometimes observe. From Tester’s memory, this is the first time that we have seen that! Our opinion on Huawei Pro 4 Freebuds

Ergonomics at the top, advanced functions and excellent quality sound: the freebuds pro 4 check all the boxes… or almost. We would have appreciated a slightly higher autonomy as well as the availability of a spatial sound on non -Huawei smartphones.

Active noise cancellation is increasing a little more and offers appreciable comfort of use in a noisy environment. But the most impressive is the audio quality in telephone conversation. Whatever the sound environment, the interlocutor will only perceive your voice.

This function, often neglected by manufacturers with a storefront, is undoubtedly possible one of the most impressive aspects of the product. With a public sale price of 200 euros at launch, Freebuds Pro 4 are a choice to consider for demanding users and addicts to telephone conversations.
