The last iPhone SE was released in 2022. And the next one would arrive by April, according to journalist Mark Gurman (Bloomberg). This new affordable iPhone is eagerly awaited, because, if the 2022 model has inherited the design of the iPhone 8, the 2025 model should have a more modern design. Indeed, the iPhone SE 2025 would have an OLED screen with a “borderless” design and without a home button. In other words, despite its mid-range positioning, the iPhone SE 2025 would look a little more like the other models recently released by the firm.
And that’s not all, since according to a new publication by Evan Blass (one of the most reliable sources of “leaks” on the web), the iPhone SE 2025 should also have the Dynamic Island functionality. As a reminder, this is an island of functionality which hides the notch in the front sensors on recent iPhones. This design allowed Apple to abandon the famous “notch” which was popularized by the iPhone X.
iPhone SE or iPhone 16E: the end of the debate?
Otherwise, Evan Blass also puts an end to the debate regarding the name of the successor to the iPhone SE 2022. Indeed, rumors had suggested that the next affordable model could be called iPhone 16E. The idea would be to signal to consumers that the device is closer to the iPhone 16, than to the iPhone SE 2022, given that it is a more modern iPhone. However, on his X account, Evan Blass shares alleged code elements which indicate that the next affordable iPhone would indeed be an iPhone “SE”.
In addition to the fact that it should have a modern design, the iPhone SE 2025 could also provide access to Apple Intelligence on a more affordable product than the iPhone 16. Indeed, it is rumored that the iPhone SE 2025 should have an 8 GB RAM memory which would allow it to be compatible with Apple’s AI features. Otherwise, on the back of this smartphone there would be a single 48-megapixel sensor. Again, this is an important development, compared to the camera of the iPhone SE 2022.
