Here are the new numbers of TV channels in France

They were eagerly awaited, and they are now known. Arcom, the French audiovisual watchdog, has just revealed the new numbers of digital terrestrial television (TNT) which will be launched next June. These developments risk shaking up the habits of certain viewers. Let’s take stock.

A real upheaval for French TV

There is indeed a change on TNT with the shutdowns of C8 and NRJ 12 from February 28. The latter will be replaced by CMI TV and Ouest France TV. Note also that Canal+ has for its part decided to leave TNT. Arcom therefore took advantage of its back-to-school press conference this Monday, January 13 to unveil the new channel numbering.

Here is the list which will be officially launched from June 6, 2025:

  1. TF1
  2. France 2
  3. France 3
  4. France 4 (formerly Canal+)
  5. France 5
  6. M6
  7. Arte
  8. LCP / Public Senate (C8 previously)
  9. W9
  10. TMC
  11. TFX
  12. Gulli (previously NRJ 12)
  13. BFM TV (previously LCP)
  14. CNews (formerly France 4)
  15. LCI (formerly BFM TV)
  16. Franceinfo (previously CNews)
  17. CStar
  18. CMI TV (Gulli previously)
  19. Ouest France TV (formerly France O, which no longer existed)
  20. TF1 Series Films
  21. The Team
  22. 6ter
  23. RMC Story
  24. RMC Discovery
  25. Sweetheart 25

Large groups on the lookout

On a practical level, don’t panic, updates are done automatically on the televisions, so you won’t have to worry about it.

As a reminder, the major French audiovisual groups are far from having remained inactive before Arcom’s decision. For example, TF1 and France Télévisions have expressed a desire to create chain blocks. This is the idea of grouping together their continuous news channels, such as LCI and France Info, which occupy channels 26 and 27 respectively. As we can see, the four major news channels are now grouped together, even if LCP becomes number 8.

As an industry expert explained last October: “All the broadcasters want the most visible number possible, but if we move the channels, we will have to downgrade others. This will result in marketing costs and for channels that have their number in their name (like W9 or Chérie25), there would be a huge image issue. “.
