Matt Damon and Sean Penn almost got the lead role
The two actors were approached to play the character of Edward Norton. Except that the latter was always the first choice of David Fincher, who was impressed by his performance in The People vs. Larry Flynt.
Edward Norton hit Brad Pitt on purpose
In the scene where the narrator hits Tyler Durden in the ear, Edward Norton really touched Brad Pitt’s ear when the gesture was supposed to be simulated. Screenrant tells us that David Fincher had spoken to him in secret just before filming to suggest this idea.
At the moment, Brad Pitt does not feign pain. As for Edward Norton’s smile and laugh, it is also a natural reaction to the bad blow he had just given his filming partner.
Brad Pitt inspired Jared Leto’s look in the film
The actor plays one of the members of the support group called Angel Face. Jared Leto rightly confided to GQ that his character’s appearance in the film owes a lot to Brad Pitt:
I remember bleaching my hair and eyebrows white. We did a segment, and I think it was Brad Pitt, he said something about “Billy Idol”. He said “Blonde!” So we went for something even whiter. I loved being on that set because I got to watch Brad. He is incredibly free, naturalistic; he always does something very different from one take to the next and it was interesting to see.
Helena Bonham Carter almost got her role stolen
The actress plays Marla Singer in this feature film. But the production was considering other talented figures to embody this character, including Reese Witherspoon, Courtney Love, and Julia Louis Dreyfus.
